This dataset represents weekly respiratory pathogens and vaccination data for nursing home residents, as they were reported to CDC’s National Health Safety Network (NHSN). The data are aggregated to national and state/territory levels. As of September 30, 2024, the NHSN Weekly Respiratory Pathogens and Vaccination Module was implemented to allow nursing homes to submit weekly cases, hospitalizations, and vaccination data for respiratory pathogens (COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial [RSV]) on a single data collection form. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required the submission of COVID-19 data beginning September 30, 2024, concurrently nursing homes were permitted to voluntarily submit influenza and RSV data. Beginning January 1, 2025, CMS requires nursing homes to report weekly data for all three respiratory pathogens among residents. Data included in this dataset represent aggregated counts capturing information specific to cases, hospitalizations, and vaccination for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV among residents during a given week of data collection. Data source description: As of September 30, 2024, the NHSN Weekly Respiratory Pathogens and Vaccination Module was implemented to allow nursing homes to submit weekly cases, hospitalizations, and vaccination data for respiratory pathogens (COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV) on a single data collection form. An NHSN surveillance week is defined as beginning on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. Only CMS-certified nursing homes indicated as active reporters in NHSN are included in the dataset. Due to differing CMS reporting requirements for COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV, the data presented in this dataset are as follows: For surveillance weeks October 6, 2024 to December 29, 2024, the reported COVID-19 data reflects submissions made during a mandated reporting period and is available in the dataset. Only facilities that have submitted complete COVID-19 data for these surveillance weeks are included in the dataset. In the absence of a reporting mandate for Influenza and RSV data during this period, these data were submitted voluntarily and are not included in the dataset. As a result, the value associated with the number of reporting facilities corresponds to those that submitted complete COVID-19 data for the given week of data collection. As of January 1, 2025, an updated CMS reporting requirement mandated the weekly submission of COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV data to NHSN. This requirement took effect on a Wednesday, which is halfway through the NHSN-defined surveillance week (Monday – Sunday). To ensure reporting consistency, Influenza and RSV reporting remained voluntary in NHSN for surveillance week January 5, 2025. As a result, Influenza and RSV data are not included in the dataset for this week of data collection. Only facilities that submitted complete COVID-19 data for this surveillance week are included in the dataset, with the reported facility count reflecting those submissions. For surveillance weeks January 12, 2025 to the present,
